Toppan’s History of Hampton:
The Early Settlers
written by Edmund Willoughby Toppan (1808-1845)
Lori W. Cotter, author/editor
for outstanding research and documentation by The Association of Historical Societies of New Hampshire
Never before published, this book tells the tale of the early settlers of Hampton, NH and their relationship with town government, land ownership and family life in colonial New England. Edmund Willoughby Toppan (1808-1845), librarian of Hampton, collected information from town and church records, as well as legal documents such as wills and deeds to put together short biographies on the first settlers of Hampton. His 3X great granddaughter, teacher and historian Lori Cotter, has transcribed these handwritten notes, and updated references and dates to these families.
This is a rare opportunity for historical societies, genealogical groups, and historians of all ages to own a collection of over 400 early settlers of the seacoast region.
These beautiful hard cover books are $50 each and books can be hand-delivered within the seacoast region. Order form (pdf) may be mailed with payment to Lori Cotter, 168 Mill Road, North Hampton, NH. Contact the author at toppan09@comcast.net.
