Who Gets the Yellow Bananas?
Wry New England Thoughts on the Human Condition
by Joann Snow Duncanson
Foreword by Frederick Samuels, Ph.D.
Who Gets the Yellow Bananas is not a book about fruit; it is a light hearted look at human nature. If you have ever driven out through your garage door without opening it, or fallen for a get-rich-quick scheme, or wondered who gets the yellow bananas in the supermarket while, when you shop, they are either too green or well on the way to Banana Heaven, this book deals with all of those situations. Duncanson, a newspaper columnist for fifteen years and a humorist for life, looks at the world through Bombeck-colored glasses. This book contains a sampling of her columns and public radio essays, covering subjects as varied a New England Town Meeting dilemma of chairs too narrow for the voter's bottom lines, to a poignant look at one man's fanciful solution to his mother's Alzheimer's disease. Down to earth humor about real people, all dealing with the human condition.
Joann Snow Duncanson lives in Peterborough, New Hampshire. Her column appears in the Peterborough Transcript and the Portsmouth (N.H.) Herald. She also does performance programs, with original music, on the works of Emily Dickinson and Celia Thaxter.
