Doughty Falls
The History of the Town of North Berwick, Maine 1831-2006

Doughty Falls is the result of nearly two years of dedicated research and writing by a committee of hardworking volunteers from the community. The committee interviewed long time citizens, gleaning many stories and remembrances. They spent many hours researching deeds, probate records, manuscripts, diaries, newspaper accounts, and reference books. Particular attention was paid to family histories, including some complete genealogies, and notable citizens who helped put little North Berwick on a worldwide map and recorded many of the town's notable events, lest they be forgotten. The committee feels that the citizens of the town, young and old, will be proud of this publication and use it as a reference for years to come. The local school children and newcomers to the town should be able to sense the hardship and reverence it took to form and maintain this rural Southern York County town in Maine. Enjoy!
